CHORLEY will be seeking some home comforts tonight when they take on Gateshead in UniBond Division One.

After seven consecutive home games in 2004, the Magpies crashed 4-1 in their first away game of the year at Prescot Cables on Saturday.

And manager Mark Patterson is looking for his players to rediscover their promising form since the turn of the year following the weekend disappointment.

"It was a self-motivation type of game on Saturday and 80 per cent of the players just didn't raise their standards or their games for it," said Patterson.

"It was like being in a time warp, back to square one like we were three months ago. There was no understanding or belief and there were too many individual errors.

"We're fortunate enough to have a game tonight and a chance to put things right."

Tom Raw, the on-loan Scarborough striker who has missed the last two games with a groin strain, will return to the side to take on Gateshead while goalkeeper Paul Eatock will step in for Lee Bracey, who is working.

Marcus Hallows has been released from his contract to stay at Altrincham, where he has been on loan for three months.

Although this means Patterson won't have to shed players from the squad to supplement the striker's wages, he is planning to turf more players out anyway.

He added: "I'm always looking to improve and there are two or three players in the squad who will be available shortly, and I'll look to bring a couple of new lads in."

The manager is also urging his players to make up for their shoddy showing at Prescot when they take on Gateshead.

"The motivation for the players is to show the supporters that Saturday was a one-off," he said.
