RADCLIFFE Borough manager Kevin Glendon's attempts to complete the loan signing of Shrewsbury centre-half Gregor Rioch appear to have failed.

Glendon had been hoping to bring in the former Hull, Macclesfield and Northwich midfielder, the son of former Wanderers boss Bruce Rioch, on loan in time for Tuesday night's Unibond Premier Division home match against Runcorn FC Halton.

But the Borough boss is hopeful of bringing defender Terry Bowker back to the club.

The 23-year-old centre-back returned to Stalybridge Celtic yesterday after their manager Dave Miller recalled him from a loan spell at Stainton Park.

Glendon said: "I think the Rioch deal is dead, but I'm trying to hang on to Terry Bowker. I'm going back to Stalybridge to see if they'll let me play him on a game-by-game basis. He's fitted in really well and he didn't want to leave."

ATHERTON LR will be hoping for a little more luck tonight than they had on their last visit to Ramsbottom United.

The two teams will restage a North West Counties League First Division match which was abandoned in a blizzard earlier this month.

Atherton LR striker Ben Obong scored a hat-trick that night, but it counted for nothing as the game was called to a halt at half-time with his team 4-2 up.
