A 70-YEAR-OLD woman whose kitchen roof collapsed four weeks ago said she is still waiting for Twin Valley to arrange for it to be fixed.

Agnes Foy, of Peel Close, said she can see her roof rafters through the hole and the wind is blowing into her bungalow.

But despite contacting Twin Valley, which owns the house, on many occasions, she said she still does not know when it will be repaired.

Now the company has said the work is just around the corner and claims the delay has been down to getting estimates for the necessary work.

Mrs Foy said: "Last year, the ceiling was bad and Twin Valley got someone to patch it up but at the end of November 2003 I saw a crack in it again nearer to the living room. It started getting bigger and bigger so I reported it.

"Before Christmas I rang again and was told I had been put as a priority but we are now in February and still nothing has been done. On January 19, a contractor came to look at the roof and as he was talking on his mobile he touched the ceiling and it fell on him.

"He said he didn't know how big a job it would be but he expected it to be done that week. They have put a tarpaulin over the hole and it is held down with my plant pots.

"I have been wearing a scarf and a shawl to keep warm and I curl up on the settee so that my feet aren't in a draft."

She added: "I had a heart bypass nearly 10 years ago and it doesn't help if I get worked up. I try to keep my temper but this has got on top of me. I am 70 years old and I don't need this at my age."

Gwyneth Sarkar, director of operations for Twin Valley Homes, said: "The flat roof over the kitchen requires new asphalt before the kitchen ceiling is repaired. This work will start in the next couple of weeks now that we have estimates for the scaffolding, asphalting and internal repair work."
