The ANDY PAYTON column. . .

IT'S D-Day. The players really have to earn their money tonight and no excuses.

The manager picks the team, but it's down to the players once they're out on the field.

I want to put pressure on them because I had enough of it in my career and you get paid to cope with that pressure.

People look for them to do the business, and the fans have had enough this season so the players owe it to them tonight.

Whatever happens, they have got to win and everybody knows it. A draw is no good.

If they get beat they will be under even more pressure when they play Derby on Saturday but nobody is looking at it like that because they are expected to get the three points against Wimbledon.

I only had one relegation, when I was at Hull, and we went down at the death so I don't know what it's like for them to go out and play when you've already gone.

One thing's for definite, they won't be playing with any pressure but we've certainly got more in our side than they have.

This is why you're looking at Robbie Blake and Glen Little to do the business because playing a team that's been relegated is one of the easier chances you get to perform.

With Robbie only one away from 20 league goals, he should be well up for it because that's always the mark you want to hit as a striker.

But it's not just about personal incentives, it's about the whole team going out and making sure they get the three points.

You need to be looking at at least four points from these two games so I think they could afford to draw with Derby and still be safe.

I've always thought Derby were too big a club to go down and they've really turned it round so there's no way getting that vital win will be as easy on Saturday as it will be tonight.

So bring it on...it's crunch time!
