ON SUNDAY, Island Lodge at Tottington was the venue for the Adcock Cup. The lodge, with a normal water level, returned to top form with four weights over the 6lb mark.

Top weight fell to Dave Waggler, fishing peg 13 on the steps, with nine skimmers plus roach and perch, 7-0-12.

In second place, also with quality bream and skimmers, was Steve Kenyon on peg 27, with 6-6-8.

Section winner on the streamside was John Fletcher from peg 23 with 6-6-0 and on the roadside Ray Booth from peg 11 with 3-9-0.

Fishing the venue for the first time, Mathew Schofield just missed the prizes with an excellent weight of 6-2-0, which included two specimen bream.

On Tuesday, the Clarence Lido Open took place with a good turnout but the big bream failed to appear.

Top weight fell to Steve Duckworth with 6-12-0 of bits.

In second place was Stefan Gent (Fisherman's Way) who took 5-4-0 and in third, Mick Hargreaves (Bolton) took 5-0-0.

In the latest Hebden Bridge AS Golden Peg Open, held on the Rochdale Canal at Mayroyd Clog Factory, £3,000 was at stake, and seven golden pegs failed to fall.

John Edwards (Leigh Tackle & Bait), fishing peg 174 on the Clog Factory, had top weight 3-11-0 with roach to 6oz.

In second place was Trevor James (Rochdale) who had 3-4-0, and R. Winterbottom (Roof UK) took 3-0-0.

In fourth place K. James (Rochdale) took 2-7-0, while Alan Crook (Fisherman's Way) took 2-1-8. The weights were affected by heavy rain and boat traffic.

In the Bradshaw Fisheries Wednesday Open, fished by 19 competitors on No 4 lodge, top weight fell to T. Birchall (Bolton Co-op) 114-5-0.

In second place was R. Buckley (Fisherman's Way) with 79-13-0; Dave Jowett snr (Fisherman's Way) was third with 73-12-0.

On Thursday, June 9, the 2004 Disabled Angling Masters will be held at Woodland Lakes.

This will guarantee £1,000 in prize money thanks to sponsorship from Westhorpe Colliery AC, and Comtec Printing Services, and is open to anglers across the country.

BURY SENIOR SECTION

DUE to problems reducing the water level of Parker's Lodge last Saturday, the proposed netting by Keith Talbot will now take place today.

The Atkinson Cup takes place on Crompton's Lodge at Elton on Sunday, May 9, draw 9am, and is open to those who have not won a match in the past two seasons.

The April meeting takes place at Elton Liberal Club on Monday, April 26, 7.30pm.

John Fletcher proposes to run the Thursday evening target matches, starting on Parker's on April 29, draw 5pm-5.30pm.

Non-members subject to day ticket. The matches will alternate with the Island Lodge.
