COLNE will finally get their reward for the gruelling schedule of games they have endured over the past month when they lift the championship trophy tomorrow.

The North West Counties Division Two winners have played at a rate of more than a match every three days since going out of the FA Vase at the semi-final stage, but they then won 10 out of their next 11 games to clinch the title.

Player-chairman James Webster said: "Mentally, it's been really hard. You feel as though you're never away from the ground.

"It's made us come closer together as a team and we have a really good team spirit but we're ready for the season to finish. It's been hard work."

Colne clinched the title with a 2-0 win at Leek CSOB on Saturday and host Great Harwood tomorrow at Holt House.

Harwood manager John Hughes was pleased with his side's all-round performance against the NWCL Division Two champions.

"Colne put out a side that has been scoring four goals and six goals in recent games but we shut the door on them by defending from the front," he said.

IT will be a case of winner takes all when Darwen and Flixton do battle at the Anchor Ground tomorrow.

Last night's 3-2 win at home to Eccleshall puts Darwen just three points away from a guaranteed promotion spot in the North West Counties League Second Division.

Goals from Dennis Hill and Neil Almond, added to Eccleshall captain Tim Buckley's own goal, led to Darwen picking up three crucial points.
