A DENTAL laboratory firm in Stopes Road in Radcliffe has been granted permission to widen its operations.

Acodent, based at Genesis House, plan to carry out alterations and build new facilities that will accommodate a training school for staff and visiting dental surgeons.

The proposals include a new car park on the site, where 130 people are currently employed.

An additional 30 staff are expected to be taken on as a result of the expansion, which will include the building of a canteen and training rooms.

At a meeting of Bury Council's planning control committee on Tuesday (28 Sep), one objector claimed that too much extra traffic would be generated.

Stopes Road North resident David Hall said that his street had already become an "overgrown car park", and that the firm was outgrowing its premises.

But councillors disagreed and voted in favour of the application.
