EXOTIC flowers from around the world were on display for visitors at a flower festival in Radcliffe.

Hundreds of people packed into Radcliffe United Reformed Church on Water Street, to see the 50 different species of flowers, plants and foliage with the theme of "cities around the world".

The event, the first of its kind organised by the church's flower festival committee and Radcliffe Flower Club, managed to raise £3,000. The flowers were later sold following a thanksgiving service at the church.

The money will go towards repaying the church building fund for Radcliffe United Reformed Church two years ago.

Committee member, Joan Nightingale, said: "The festival was a great success which brought many people into the church who had never been in before. The visitors book was packed full of positive comments about the event, especially the warm welcome they received."
