A TEACHING duo raised more than £1,000 for charity after completing a gruelling half marathon race.
Paul Dugdale and Emma Wilson clocked-up 26 miles between them at the annual BUPA Great North Run, held in Newcastle.
Brave Paul, who suffered a spinal injury after being involved in a car accident, ran through the pain barrier to complete the race in one hour 38 seconds.
The biology teacher, who works at St Theodore's RC High School, Burnley, hopes to have raised more than £500 for the Brain and Spine Foundation.
Paul, 27, of Burnley Road, Cliviger, said: "I wanted to do it in one hour and 30 minutes, but as it's my first marathon I'm pleased with how it went."
Headteacher John Tat said: "We are all really proud of both Paul and Emma for their sterling efforts."
