A DRUNKEN single mother ended a night out by being sick in a taxi, racially abusing the driver, and then spitting at him.

Burnley Magistrates Court heard how Angela Stevenson, 28, who has four children under 10, finished her evening at Burnley Police Station after being arrested.

A judge was told how the defendant had not been out since disgracing herself on August 5 -- and he put paid to any more nights out for the rest of the year.

Stevenson was given a three-month curfew order by Deputy District Judge Michael Singleton, who slammed her behaviour as totally unacceptable.

He told the defendant taxi drivers were vulnerable and were entitled to the full protection of the law.

The judge added a curfew might just serve as a reminder to Stevenson that she needed to be able to conduct herself in an appropriate manner.

The defendant, of Parliament Street, Burnley, admitted racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, and common assault.

The curfew is from 8.30pm until 5.30am every night. Stevenson must also pay £50 compensation, and was warned jail awaited if she flouted the order.

Paul Wood, defending, said Stevenson accepted she was drunk and was sick, but claimed the taxi driver spat at her and spoke to her in derogatory terms.

He alleged Stevenson only behaved the way she had because of provocation.

She was not racist as she had two mixed race children.
