SCOOTERISTS who annually take part in the world's biggest charity ride will be partying in Atherton on Saturday to raise money for sick children.

Members of Bolton Spartans Scooter Club --the oldest single area scooter club in Britain having been established 50 years ago--are staging a party and charity pub crawl in fancy dress in aid of Derian House Children's Hospital.

And in a bizarre twist during the day, club tattooist Buster will let people use his equipment to tattoo their signatures onto his legs for the price of a charity donation.

And to celebrate Bodge's 40th birthday the party begins at the club headquarters at the Railway Hotel, Bag Lane from 8pm onwards with raffles prizes and a buffet provided by hosts Roger and Delia. It's an open event with £2 admission and all proceeds to the Hospice.

The club meets at The Railway from 5pm every Sunday and club secretary and Atherton lorry driver Ginger Lawton -- he of Quadrophenia and Easter Egg Run game -- is justifiably proud of the club's community support and successes.

They have a huge collection of trophies won at events throughout Britain and have been represented at rallies in Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, France and the USA.

And many will be giving a hand to run the Easter Egg Run and rally being held at Lowton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 11, 12 and 13 next year. There'll be a Saturday ride out when hundreds of scooterists will travel in convoy from Lowton Civic Hall with gifts for youngsters at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital at Pendlebury.
