WITH five first team players missing, Leigh East U13s defied the odds and beat Ince Rose Bridge 12-6.
Both sides traded a set of six but on Leigh's last tackle the Wigan full-back knocked on under pressure for a good kick chase. This gave East the ball 10 metres out from the try line and a couple of plays later Sam Grainey skipped through the defence to open the scoring.
The rest of the half saw tough defence from both teams until just before half time when East where penalised on their own tryline and Ince scooted over from penalty to level the scores.
The second half was much the same as the first with East putting on a great defensive show. Five minutes from time Johnny Lythgoe met a wide pass at pace to race fifty metres down the wing for East's second try and with Daniel Leonard converting the extremely difficult kick.
