Rochdale 17 Leigh 17: AFTER a tough victory the previous week at Aspatria in the Powergen Intermediate Cup, Leigh RU were forced to make numerous changes due to injury and unavailability.

They started confidently and a good scrum ball saw fly half Jones chip over the cover for Wilcock to win the race to the touchdown and convert his own try.

Rochdale responded strongly and Leigh defended well to keep their line intact, but they began to concede a string of penalties, allowing Rochdale to reduce the lead to 7-3.

Leigh were continually on the wrong end of some refereeing decisions and hooker Wood was yellow carded. This allowed the home side to take advantage, scoring a pushover try and conversion.

Leigh's frustration continued in the second half with lock forward Lester also receiving 10 minutes in the sin-bin, but gained a rare penalty from an attacking move for Wilcock to level the score at 10-10.

Leigh looked the likely winners but a suicidal mid-field pass gifted Rochdale an easy interception for a converted try.

A powerful surge by back row Tau Liku fed debutant winger Oldham who showed fine pace and strength to force his way to the line despite several attempted tackles. Wilcock converted.

Leigh seconds maintained their 100 per cent league record with a hard fought 25-24 victory.

The Hawks made the long trip to Cumbria Saturday and headed home with the points following an impressive display, racking up six quality tries in a 42-7 win.

Leigh Vets were convincing 70-0 winners when they travelled to Rossendale.
