Tyldesley 10 Upper Eden 20: TYLDESLEY RU may yet live to rue a defeat to a committed Upper Eden at the end of the season as their recent good run was halted.

Again the Tyldesley pack was dominant in both the scrummage and lineout while props James O'Connor and Rhys Morgan caused all types of problems in the tight and loose. In the lineout lock Lee West was at his best and fellow lock Jack Nash made such a nuisance of himself with the opposition defence that he won the sponsors Man of the Match award.

Upper Eden made use of the little ball they had taking an early lead which they held to the end of the first half scoring 13 points with only a solitary penalty from Tyldesley's Ashley Worsfold in reply.

Tyldesley continued their domination up front and following good work from Nash and O'Connor, Adam Fetherston was on hand to take the pass to score close to the posts.

With the game finely poised at 13-10 Tyldesley lost the initiative and Tom Cartwright when he was dismissed for punching in a maul on the opposition 22. Upper Eden created their first worthwhile attack of the second period and the long range effort was well finished off along with an excellent conversion to kill the game off 20-10.

Tyldesley Knights are slowly showing the form that won them promotion last season with an excellent 24-8 away victory at Oldham.

Tyldesley took the ball to the home side and good field position allowed Lee Cunliffe to unleash his back line and Chris Southern went over untouched for a try converted by Ian Lysons.

The second period started with Tyldesley leading 7-3 and this was extended when an excellent interchange of passes allowed space for Brian Ndlovu to score. Straight from the kick off Tyldesley worked the ball wide drawing the Oldham defence before moving the ball back inside from where Cunliffe went over the line to score under the posts. Oldham rumbled back with a try following a trademark catch and drive from a lineout. However Tyldesley had the final say when Karl Greenhalgh burrowed his way over from a lineout five metres out.

Tyldesley Dragons breezed to a 24-13 win over Tarleton 2.
