AN elderly woman has praised local people's honesty after she dropped her handbag at Darwen bus station and returned 15 minutes later to find it still there.
The woman, who is 83 and almost blind, did not notice her bag had slipped as she struggled to put it into a carrier bag.
She only realised it was missing after she boarded a bus.
But she retraced her steps and found the bag where she had dropped it with the contents still intact.
The woman, who does not wish to be named, wished to thank two women who helped her collect her belongings.
She said: "I would like to say how handy it is to shop in Darwen when you can park your handbag on the floor at a bus stop and come back and pick it up in a quarter of an hour!"
