A DOZY dad who can't get up in time is the star of a show aimed at encouraging children to think again about their school journeys.

The Box Clever Theatre Company is touring 18 Lancashire schools to help the county council highlight road safety by demonstrating the benefits of walking, cycling and public transport.

Car Story has already played at Wellfield High School, Leyland, and Cuerden Church School, Bamber Bridge. Youngsters at Harris Primary School, Fulwood, and Longton Primary School, Longton, are included in the tour dates next week.

County Councillor Jean Yates, Lancashire County Council cabinet member for Highways and Transportation, said: "This particular dad is still in his pyjamas when he should be taking his daughter to school.

"It makes his daughter late and that sparks a rethink of how she gets to school. It is a lighthearted way of tackling a serious subject.

The 40 minute show is followed by a half hour workshop for some children.
