MR Zaman (Letters, September 20) is quite correct when he states that this is a democracy and he is perfectly entitled to his opinion. Unfortunately there are those who, while disagreeing with the basic concept of democracy, paradoxically take advantage of its freedom.
Perhaps it is time for those who even remotely agree with religious fanatics to form their own political party and stand honestly on their own platform at the next election, rather than resort to violence, or dishonesty join pluralistic mainstream parties which surely do not reflect their views.
