A TASTE of New Age living came to Bury on Sunday.

Hundreds turned up and tuned in to the Life Quest, Healthy Living Exhibition to sample a vast array of complementary therapies and treatments.

Held at the Castle Armoury in Bury, the exhibition featured more than 80 stalls and workshops on holistic and relaxing therapies and treatments including reiki and crystal healing.

Demonstrations of goddess, belly and Nia dancing as well as Tai Chi and Chi Gong were also on show, while tarot readers and clairvoyants were on hand to give visitors an insight into their future.

There was plenty of retail therapy on offer too with native Indian goods and ethnic furniture and books for sale on the day.

The event was organised by local businesses Crystal Poppy and Mind and Body Therapies, based in Bolton Street, Bury.

Lyndsey Warburton, who owns Crystal Poppy, said: "The exhibition is certainly the biggest one of its kind that has been held in Bury.

"It was organised to introduce people to which complementary therapies are on offer. Today people are looking for something more than conventional treatments and are more open to complementary therapies.

"Bury Cancer Support Centre also had a stall and they do excellent work using complementary therapies.

"There was a brilliant friendly atmosphere on the day. The feedback we have received has been brilliant and now we are planning to hold it again next year and make it a two-day event."

She added: "There really was something for everyone. Everybody who came certainly went away with something they had learnt or picked up."
