A 19-YEAR-old youth has been jailed for four months for his part in an assault and has also been made the subject of a three-year Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).

Kenny Lee Ridgley (19), of Moss Place, was sentenced at Bury Magistrates Court on Monday for his part in the assault which took place in the town's Brandlesholme Road in January.

Inspector Vincent Jones, of Bury police later said: "This was a despicable and cowardly attack involving a number of males striking and kicking a defenceless victim while he lay on the floor. I welcome both the custodial sentence and the imposition of a three-year ASBO which I feel is more than appropriate in the circumstances"

The conditions of Ridgley's ASBO are that he is not to:

act in an anti-social manner

use abusive, insulting, offensive, threatening or intimidating language or behaviour in a public place or in any place to which the public has access.

approach, threaten, intimidate or communicate directly or indirectly with any lay witnesses identified in the proceedings.

drive or be a passenger in any motor vehicle or on any motorcycle, except where the defendant/driver has the consent of the owner of the vehicle and the defendant or the driver is appropriately qualified and insured and the vehicle is roadworthy with a current tax disc and MOT certificate.

cause damage to another's property without good reason or the consent of the owner.

associate in any way in a public place, or a place to which the public has access, with Dean Platt (18) or Kieran McClusky (16)

not to be drunk or possess or consume any alcohol in a public place or a place to which the public has access.
