A GROUND breaking performing arts company that rejected London last year in favour of Preston is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Dynamic New Animation (DNA) opened at The Watermark Creative Industries in Ribbleton Lane, Preston, in December.

It will be officially launched on Wednesday, October 6, on the date of its tenth anniversary, by Preston mayor, Councillor Pat Woods.

Company bosses believe that being in Preston is central to the development of the operation and its future success.

Adam Bennett, lead performer and general manager, said: "Preston is very up and coming and is the perfect place for the development of our company.

"Preston has got fantastic transport links, it's half an hour from most major cities in the North West."

"The people here are lovely, and there is a large multi-cultural community."

DNA specialises in combining puppetry and visual theatre techniques with live performance.

The company provides training and workshops for adults and children, but also preforms at schools and festivals.

There have been performances across Europe, and at the Glastonbury Festival, and the company is currently working on a new show called Baba Yaba Boney Legs, based on a Russian folk tale about a witch, which is expected to be staged at Easter.

"Our aim is to inspire confidence in people through our art form, it is about innovation and accessibility," said Mr Bennett.

"We present visually stimulating, accessible entertaining performance that encourages audiences of all ages to live happier, healthier and more productive lives with a strong sense of wellbeing and empowerment, encouraging active participation in all aspects of society."
