LOCAL Labour Party activist Alan Quinn (Letters, September 17) seems, as usual, to miss the point in his criticism of Liberal Democrats in Prestwich.
The facts speak for themselves. In June this year, the local residents elected a majority of Liberal Democrat councillors in Prestwich. This means that we must get on with the job of leading the work of Prestwich area board, and this is exactly what we have done.
Since June, the area board has established new working groups to plan improvements and developments in Prestwich - groups with which we are inviting local organisations to become involved.
We've consulted on how best community organisations can be involved in the area board, and looked at bringing in new members. We're consulting on a new Prestwich Community Plan and taking forward ideas on traffic issues and the village centre. Not bad in just three months.
Liberal Democrats believe in involvement and empowering the community. The important thing is to get the work done; that is our priority and we will continue to do that.
COUNCILLOR
TIM PICKSTONE,
leader, Bury Liberal Democrats.
