AN AMBITIOUS year awaits actors at Whitefield Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (WAODS).

After starting the season with a popular musical Scrooge, the group will then focus the rest of their attentions on the drama section with a range of plays to suit all tastes.

Scrooge will be performed at Radcliffe Civic Suite from October 19 to 23.

This will be followed by Richard Harris's play Outside Edge, shown at Whitefield Garrick Theatre, in Bank Street, from December 7 to 11.

All eyes will be on the society on January 29, 2005 when a world premiere of the play Secrets, written by society production secretary Marjorie Pinder, will be performed at Walshaw Sports Club.

Members of WAODS will return to the Garrick Theatre in April for the classic production of Accrington Pals, which tells the tale of First World War suffering.

The popular play will be performed from April 12 to 16 and the season will close with an Oscar Wilde play from June 14 to 18.

New members to the society are always welcome and an open invitation goes out to anyone who wishes to read for Accrington Pals.

The readings will take place on Monday, September 27 at the New Jerusalem Church, Stand Lane, Radcliffe at 7.30pm and again on Monday, October 4 at Besses United Reformed Church, Bury New Road, Whitefield at 7.30pm.
