A KEEN cyclist has raised £547 for the East Lancashire Hospice after watching a close friend lose his fight against cancer.
David Woods, 45, of Haslingden, visited his close friend, Andrew Mason, at the hospice on a number of occasions and said he was inspired by the care and dedication that was given in the last days of Andrew's life.
He said: "Seeing first hand the care, love and attention shown by the staff and volunteers while looking after their patients and their families, prompted me to help, in memory of a very dear friend."
David, a keen cyclist, decided to help support the work of the hospice on Park Lee Road, Blackburn, by setting himself a gruelling fundraising challenge.
He completed a sponsored bike ride from Haslingden to Whitby, a trip of 120 miles, while collecting sponsorship for the Hospice.
