CHILDHOOD nursery rhyme becomes panto fun this weekend as the Besses United Reformed Church perform Humpty Dumpty to packed out audiences.
The play, written by Joan Ashworth and produced by Gillian Dawson, recounts the classic childhood tale performed by 26 budding actors, the majority being members of the Bury New Road church.
The cast, who have been practising their lines since May, hope the money raised from tonight and tomorrow's shows will boost their church funds.
Church member and the panto's fairy queen, Mrs June Williams, believes the performances will be a success and cannot wait to hit the spotlight.
She said: "I love it, it is so much fun! I was unable to perform last year due to illness so now I am going to be making up for it this year."
The church group perform a pantomine every year. Past productions have included Mother Goose, Cinderella and Goldilocks. Following this year's show, there will be a month's break before plans for next year's pantomine get underway.
