A MUM has appealed to burglars who broke into her home to return priceless video tapes capturing the first ten months of her baby daughter's life.

Marie Tatlock, 37, urged the thieves to "have a heart" and hand in the three tapes which include footage of the birth and christening of her daughter, Melanie, and her first Christmas.

She was shopping in Bolton with her husband, Neil, 41, on Monday, when the burglars struck at their home in Dill Hall Lane, Church.

As well as the videos, which were stored in the case with the video camera, the thieves also stole money from a child's piggy bank, DVDs, toys and other items.

But Marie said it was just the videos she was concerned about.

She said: "Those tapes are priceless to us and I am desperate to get them back and I just hope the person who took them is someone with a heart who will get them back to us somehow.

"None of the other stuff matters because it can all be replaced but these tapes are really special.

"The first 10 months of my daughter's life are all captured on them and we just want them back."

The house was broken into between 11am and 5.30pm on Monday. The thieves climbed over a fence at the back and got in through the back door.

Detective Inspector Simon Giles, of Blackburn CID, asked anybody with information about the tapes or the burglary to come forward.

He said: "Obviously it is very distressing, especially at this time of year, when toys for youngsters go missing as well as videos with cherishable contents."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Accrington CID on 01254 353743 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
