BLACKBURN Rovers are set to make a second bid for Robbie Savage after the Birmingham midfielder last night admitted he's desperate to return to the North West.
Savage has opened his heart and spoken for the first time about the 'personal problems' that are forcing him to consider his future at St Andrews.
The 30-year-old wants to move closer to the family home in Wrexham after revealing he blames himself for the stroke suffered by his mother and the illness that has forced his father to quit work at the age of 57.
Savage claims he is still happy at Birmingham but he has pleaded with Blues fans to understand the personal circumstances that have left his head in 'turmoil'.
"I have real family problems back home and so does my wife," said Savage, who was the target of a £2.2 million bid by Rovers last week.
"My father has just had to finish work because of ill health and that is distressing.
"My mother had a stroke and my wife has massive family problems at home, too.
"These things add up and people don't know the other side.
"I go back to Wales as often as I can, though it takes two-and-a-half hours. But it's hard living away from your family when you have got a child.
"I blame myself for my parents' problems. I have been a bit of a nuisance to them, even though I know they are proud of me.
"I've had several chats with the manager and hopefully things will be resolved pretty soon.
"You couldn't ask for a better bunch of boys to play with than at Birmingham but this is not about money.
"Whether I am at Birmingham, Wrexham or wherever. I just want to be close to my family."
Birmingham rejected Rovers' initial approach for Savage last week.
