AIR cadets were rewarding for their outstanding fund-raising efforts by Leigh Branch of the RAF Association, Mr Arthur Rothwell, when he visited Leigh Air Training Corps.
The Royal Air Force Association charity was established to help former members of the Royal Air Force and provides a wide range of welfare services. A large proportion of RAFA funding comes from the Battle of Britain Wings Appeal and each September cadets from 316 (Leigh) Squadron help to collect money.
Thanks to local generosity the Leigh cadets raise over £1270 for the Association. Cadets of B Flight were particularly successful and Mr Rothwell presented senior cadet Cadet Sgt Lee Yates with the RAF Association Trophy in recognition of their efforts. Mr Rothwell was also pleased to make an individual presentation, the RAF Association Shield, to Cadet Rachel Goulden who personally raised £402.20.
