I WRITE in response to the letter from Councillor Salim Mulla (LET, February 17) writing in his capacity as General Secretary of the Lancashire Council of Mosques.
If a child has been the victim of any form of assault, the police or social services should be immediately informed.
It is not the role of the Council to investigate allegations. It is its role to develop strategies and policies and provide leadership for protecting our children.
Coun Mulla would be better advised to make clear that no assaults on children will be tolerated and to advise any parent or other adult to report concerns if they believe children have been assaulted to the police or social services.
GRAHAM SMYTHE, Whalley New Road, Blackburn.
