PUPILS at Leigh CE Infants learn, love and enjoy their school, just like their motto states.

Government education inspectors have given the Walmesley Road school a glowing Ofsted report, and headteacher, Sharon Howard, who was singled out for praise for her outstanding leadership and vision, is delighted.

She said: "We are absolutely thrilled. This recognises the commitment of everyone involved and is a true reflection of the school and all its achievements.

"Perhaps most gratifying, the report captures some of the key features which we believe make our school distinct and special.

"It comments on the high expectations for children's learning, the innovative and varied curriculum which motivates and inspires them and the way in which everyone in the school community is united in making them feel valued, cared for and loved.

"It is thanks to staff, parents, governors and children that we have such a happy, caring, successful school of which we are extremely proud."

The experts' report praises a school with 'no significant weakness'.

It states: "The pupils say that they love the school, and this shows in their determination, very good behaviour, and very good attitudes to their learning."

The school's motto is Learn, Love, Enjoy and a delighted Mrs Howard said everyone at the school certainly loved and enjoyed the findings of the Ofsted report.

Chairman of the governors, the Rev Dr Arthur Cunningham, added: "We look forward to building on the school's obvious strengths as we seek to support the headteacher and staff in continuing to deliver a high quality education within a caring environment, which values the potential of each child to achieve and flourish."
