RADCLIFFE BORO U14 4, SWINTON BOYS U14 4: Boro took on Swinton a week after losing out to them in the cup, this time, however, they got off to a much better start in the North Bury Junior League Under 14 Premier Division.

Early on Ryan Dillon latched on to a David Ecclesball to calmly beat the Swinton keeper from ten yards.

But indecisive defence allowed Swinton to equalise in one of their first attacks.

Things quickly got worse after conceding a penalty; captain Ryan Dillon had to leave the field following a clash of heads, and a further two goals were conceded before half time.

Dillon returned to the fray for the second half and inspired his teammates to turn in a superb second half performance.

Eccles cut in from the right and pulled the ball back from the by-line for Dillon to rifle in a second goal. Dillon then raced through to complete his hat-trick.

But with Boro committed, Swinton nearly caught them on the break and only a last-ditch interception by Nik Mitchell averted the danger.

Eventually, Boro scored the equaliser their second half performance merited.

It was Dillon once again, holding off desperate attempt by the keeper and defenders to bring the scores level.

This was all too much for Swinton who became increasingly ill-disciplined and, having had one player booked, they proceeded to have another red-carded, ending the game with ten men.

The game finished with Boro pressing for a winner, Dillon's last minute free kick being cleared by a relieved visiting defence.
