THE past week has brought difficult conditions on many angling venues, especially the local canals.

On Sunday the Rochdale Canal was the venue for the Hebden Bridge teams of four, round four.

Top weight fell to Paul Cryer (Profish Black) peg 390 at Luddendon Foot 4-11-8. In second place peg 393 Bob Browning (Fishermans Way) 3-14-0, third place J Pulley (Leigh Angling) 2-11-8.

League: First: Profish UK Black 159 points; Second: Fishermans Way 143 points; Third: Profish Gold 142 points.

Also on Sunday the sixth and final round of the Blackburn Octoplus Teams of four took place on the Leeds Liverpool Canal at Blackburn, fished by 76 anglers.

Top Individuals: First - Paul Lahey (Tri Cast Rochdale Black) 7-2-6; Second: R Yates (Ted Carter Southport) 5-14-0; Third: S Paddon (Tri Cast Highfield) 4-6-3.

Ted Carter Southport won the league 180 points; Second: Tri Cast Rochdale Black 192 points; Third: Tri Cast Rochdale Blue, 203 points.

In the first round of the Supercup 2005 local side Bury Bridge AC played hosts to Standish MG and St Anthony's AC. A ten man team event fished at Blundells Farm.

Result: first: St Anthony's ACA 18 points; second: Standish MG 20 points; third: Bury Bridge AC 23 points.

Individuals: first: M Wilson (Standish MG) 18-7-0; second: S Almond (St Anthonys) 17-5-0; third: R Malone (St Anthonys) 16-9-0.

The past weekend saw the Northern Semi Finals of the Browning, Angling Times Team Championships. Three teams from each qualifying for the final.

SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL

Top Three Teams: first: Drennan NW 26 points; second: Garbolino Ossett 56 points; third: Shimano Tipton 57 points.

Individual: first: Colin Mayor (Drennan NW) 9-3-0; second: Steve Conroy (Drennan NW) 5-5-4; third: N Buist (Lymn AC) 5-3-12.

WOODLAND LAKES

Top Three Teams: first: Daiwa Cleveland AC 36 points; second: Maver Barnsley Blacks 48 points; third: Daiwa Goldthorpe 55 points.

Individuals: first: John Cheetham (Ted Carter Southport) 54-7-0; second: Nigel Johnson (Daiwa Cleveland) 42-1-0; third: Ian Hughes (Connahs Quay) 36-10-0.

BURY SENIOR SECTION

NEXT club match is the Damian Wrall Memorial Trophy to be fished on Parkers on Sunday March 27, draw 9am.

The club have organised working parties on Island Lodge, Saturday April 9 to do a general tidying up of the banks.

A further working party also on Cromptons on April 30, please meet on the banks at 9am.

Nominations are now being taken for those members who wish to fish the Division One National on the Grand Union Canal in July.

A non returnable deposit has to be paid by April 30 of the clubs intentions.

All members of the National Squad have to be individual members of the NFA at a cost of £10 per head.
