THE 49-year-old woman killed by a tram on Friday evening has been named.
Miss Linda Kaminsky, of Rectory Gardens, Prestwich, stepped in front of a tram travelling from Bury to Manchester, just 100 metres from Prestwich Metrolink Station in Rectory Lane.
The incident happened at 9.45pm and the tram driver notified the authorities by phone shortly afterwards.
Police arrived on the scene at around 10pm along with firemen from Broughton. The tram service around Bury was suspended for the rest of the evening while investigations were carried out.
Miss Kaminsky died at the scene. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
