GOLBORNE PARKSIDE 46, THATTO HEATHCRUSADERS 8: Golborne Parkside continued their push for honours with a 46-8 NW Counties Challenge Cup victory over Thatto Heath.

After being under early pressure, Golborne turned on their skills and took a 6-0 lead with a try by Carl Kelly converted by Andy Simms.

Golborne continued to dominate but couldn't dent a solid team defence before they extended their lead to 10-0 with a unconverted try from impressive centre Craig Parr.

Minutes later they made it 16 -0 after a try from veteran forward Garry Donney was converted by Simms.

Thatto proved to be a good side by mounting pressure on the Golborne defence and after 18 consecutive tackles they cracked the defence to score a unconverted try and moments later put themselves back in the game with another try to make the half time score 16-8.

Tries came thick and fast in the second half from Keith Tickle 2, Zac Patterson, Chris Miller and a sensational effort from 19-year-old winger Craig Timmins whichbrought the house down.

Man of the match Andy Simms weighed in with four more goals. Craig Parr took second place and Chris Miller third.

Meanwhile the 'A' team pulled off the shock result of the North West Counties Bowl by defeating Weaverham Rangers to reach the last eight of their competition.

Two tries by debutant Chris Reynolds gave Golborne a 8-4 half time lead. Second half tries from 1Mathew Williams and Lee Cooper, plus a Danny Guhury conversion, gave Golborne a well deserved victory. Jay Wright, and Tom Smith outstanding.

The under 18's continued the celebrations with a 18-8 victory over local rivals Leigh East victory gained by a try by Golborne's James Muir.

The 16's also gained a 12-8 local derby victory over local rivals Ashton. The under 15's again gave their coach another outstanding performance going down 12-16 late in the game to second place Folly Lane. The under 13's had a convincing 30 point victory over Burtonwood.
