TORY wannabe-MP Nigel Adams may have thought his pop at Janet Anderson over her question about caviar a bit of a schoolboy hoot but sadly I believe this reflects a glaring lack of judgment on his part about just what is involved in the role of MP.

It may be the case that you could count on your hand the numbers of people in Darwen who have tasted caviar (this is actually a bit of an insult to Darwen folk if you ask me) but the fact was that Janet was asked to table this question after being contacted by a businessman who happened to be a constituent and whose livelihood happened to depend on caviar.

Now had Mr Adams been the man's MP, would he have refused to table the question? I think this whole episode has less to do with Janet Anderson, who has been an excellent MP to people in Darwen, and more to do with Mr Adams's failure to address real and important issues such as how many teachers, police and health care staff will lose their jobs when the real Tory planned cuts to public services begin to bite.
