BOOZED-UP teen yobs will be been banned from gathering near a Burnley pub after police secured a new order to send the louts packing.

Police have secured an Anti Social Behaviour Dispersal Order to tackle the bad behaviour of youths gathering near the Tim Bobbin pub in Padiham Road.

The Dispersal Order is the fourth to be secured in the Burnley borough - police say other orders in Worsthorne, Padiham and Trinity have proved very successful, reducing youth nuisance and disorder.

Officers sought the ban following an increase in problems near to the pub and surrounding streets.

Police spokeswoman Paula Duxbury said: "Police have received numerous complaints about teenagers intimidating passers-by, throwing objects at cars and fighting.

"Patrols have been stepped up but the Order will give officers extra powers when it comes to breaking up gangs of youths and arresting them if they return to the area within 24 hours."

The Order comes into effect at midnight on Thursday, April 7 and will run until July 3 when its use will be reviewed.

Inspector Dave Croll warned parents not to be surprised if their children are frog marched home by police as a result of the new Dispersal Order.

He said: "We have tried a number of tactics to resolve the problems in this area but the youths have taken little or no notice so enough is enough. The order means we can disperse youths gathering in groups of two or more and if they return within 24 hours we can arrest them.

"Following the number of problems we've had in this area, we fully intend to make the most of this new order so young people and parents: you have been warned!"

Inspector Croll hit out at the youths involved in recent incidents - and their parents.

He said: "The police and other agencies are doing what they can to tackle the problem of youth nuisance, it's time parents played their part too.

"I don't think it's unreasonable to expect parents to take responsibility for their children but it is clearly unreasonable for other people to have to put up with the misery they are causing.

"I would like to ask local parents: do you know where your children are at evenings and weekends? And, if they do know where their kids are and simply don't care, then they, and their children, should expect to face the consequences, and very soon."
