STARS of TV soap Hollyoaks are urging women to put their best foot forward to help fight cancer.

The women-only Race for Life events will be held all over the country this summer to raise vital funds for the Cancer Research UK research.

Race for Life, which is supported by Tesco, aims to recruit 425,000 women nationally to walk, run or jog 5km and help to raise more than £23m.

Manchester's Race for Life event will take place in Heaton Park, Prestwich, on June 26.

Last year, a record 409,000 women took part in the Race for Life across the UK and raised £21 million.

Hollyoaks star Sarah Lawrence, who plays Darlene Taylor, and identical twins Connie and Cassie Powney, who play Mel and Sophie in the Chester soap, were happy to lend their support.

Sarah (22), who is from Manchester, said: "I'm more than happy to support Race for Life. It gives women of all ages, however fit they are, the chance to raise money for the great work that Cancer Research UK does."
