BURY Rotary Club kept people at arm's length in the nicest possible way when it staged its third annual free blood pressure check event.
The organisation's Stroke Awareness Day was held at Boots in The Mall, Bury, on Saturday and around 135 shoppers underwent blood pressure measuring checks.
Bury joined other Rotary clubs up and down the country by offering the service which is a joint initiative between the movement and the Stroke Association.
Blood pressure is the biggest cause of strokes. Those whose readings were particularly high were advised to see their GP. Bury Rotary had two people on duty to carry out the blood pressure monitoring and Boots kindly supplied the equipment.
