The Bury & District Recorded Music Circle opened their summer series with a Music Miscellany presented by Librarian Mr Harry Howarth. Opening with the Overture Corsair by Berlioz, followed by the Adagio from Bruch's Violin Concerto, next we heard Your Tiny Hand is Frozen,

I am Mimi and Lovely Maid in the Moonlight from Puccini's Opera La Boheme, this was followed by the Adagio from Spartacus and The Ball from Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz. After the interval Harry opened with the Hebrides Overture by Mendelssohn and the Adagio from Beethovens Piano Concerto no 5 (The Emperor ). Next came Linden Lea by Vaughan Williams, the Romance from the Gadfly by Shostacovich and finally the end of Symphony no 5 by Sibelius. A tuneful nostalgic programme with something for everyone as Harry remarked and this was reflecfed in the generous applause from the members.

Next Friday Mr Joe Sowden will present Flora & Fauna.
