MR John Shaw gave a presentation on "A Journey across Canada to the Rockies". After his first trip in a Boeing 747 he arrived in Ottowa, Canada's capital city. The first slides showed the Parliament and administration buildings on the hill over the city. Next we saw the very fine stone build Lord Elgin Hotel overlooking the town square. Leaving Ottowa for Winnipeg by train to travel across the wheat belt, the train arrived in Calgary having been delayed by a Tornado.

In Calgary a city whose wealth is based on oil and cattle it was stampede time. John and his party enjoyed a few days of parades and the horse, bull riding and cattle roping were all seen on his slides.

Time to travel on to Banff and visit the National Park and a trip to the viewing platform on Sulphur mountain was next. The view from the platform gave the picture of the mountains and valleys they would walk through. The walk to visit Mount Assiniboine would take them through the Simpson Valley and past the Ten Peaks and on by Lake Louise and the Morain Lake.

Next stop the Jasper National Park and the town of Jasper. This was a base to visit the Athabasca Glacier and Icefields. A view from the top of the Whistler Mountain allowed them to plan the last walk through the mountains and lakes of this area. Time to return home via the west coast steam railway to the city of Vancouver and another flight in the big Boeing.

Stanley Chadwick proposed a vote of thanks for a very fine presentation.
