ONLY in the land of smoky mirrors and image deception could a spin-mad government "loan" money to a local council so that it could devise another road calming scheme which drives all car-users crazy.
March madness has struck again in Prestwich! In the last fortnight nine useless road signs have sprouted like spring weeds on Scholes Lane: and these nonsense signs are supposed to reduce road accidents!
I used to think that the idiotic mess on Sunnybank Road in Unsworth was the worst case of inefficient spending of our hard-earned money - until the lumps and bumps arrived in Kings Road in Prestwich, also in March. I suppose this is one way of sorting out potholes!
Do readers know of any better examples of March spending madness (oops, sorry, road-calming measures?).
JONATHAN GROSSKOPF,
Bishops Road, Prestwich.
