A DARWEN takeaway boss is taking a stand against yobs who caused almost £1,000 damage to his shop.

Halin Kasim, 51, who has owned KM's Takeaway in Railway Road for ten years, was left with a smashed front window and damaged floor tiles after a stone slab was thrown through his pizza shop window on Sunday.

Now he has put up a £50 reward for anyone who can provide information which will lead to the arrest of the culprits.

The shop suffered around £800 worth of damage.

Mr Kasim said he believes the culprits should not be allowed to get away with damaging other people's property.

He said: "It is going to cost me a lot of money to repair the damage because it's quite a big window and the heavy stone landed on the tiled floor which has also smashed. The shop is still open and the window boarded up but when I get the workmen in to replace the floor, I will have to shut the shop and will lose money.

"This is very unfortunate and I want these people caught before they do it to someone else's property. That is why I'm offering the reward.

"Nothing like this has happened before but there are always lots of local kids hanging around at night these days.

"If they are causing trouble and you dare to say something to them, they end up going on the rampage.

"The takeaway closes at about 3am on a Sunday morning and this Sunday I locked up at around 4.05am and went home.

"Someone walked past and saw the window later that day and rang me to let me know so we're not sure exactly when it happened."

Darwen police confirmed the incident and said it was discovered by a police officer at around 9.30am. Inquiries are continuing.
