POLICE are launching a crackdown on people riding a mini moto illegally in Rishton.
It comes after officers received several reports about the use of mini motos, particularly in the White Path area of the town.
Police are reminding parents and their children that it is illegal to ride mini motos, mopeds, motorised scooters and quad bikes in public places such as on footpaths or pavements and in play areas and parks.
A mini moto must be DVLA registered, road taxed and have a valid MOT to be ridden on the road and would also need a number plate with lights.
The rider must also be aged 17 or over (16 for mopeds), hold a valid driving licence, wear a helmet and have the necessary insurance to ride on the road.
PCSO Steve Charnley said: “Motorcycles such as mini motos, mini quad bikes and other petrol driven scooters are still a popular ‘toy’ among young people.”
