MEMBERS and supporters of Arnside Horticultural Society produced a room full of flowers and plants, floral art and cookery at the Spring Show on Saturday.

Due to the , cold winter and late start to spring, entries were down on last year – but came from a wider range of competitors.

The best horticutural exhi-bit was a cyclamen grown by Anna Dean.

But it was the con-tribution from children at Arnside National School and the children's classes which produced a wonderful array of art work and felt birds, animals made from fruit and vegetables, plus foliage arrangements and photo-graphs of pets.

Prizes were presented by Sheila May, who pointed out that it was now 76 years since the society's first show, and it was still thriving and aiming to expand its activities every year.

Major trophy and prize winners were – Arnside Horticultural Society Cup (most points in show): R. Holmes. Most points in Section A (bulbs in pots): Miss D. King. Section B (cut flowers): Mrs P.
