A CCTV camera has been installed in Haslingden in a bid to protect the town from crime and anti-social behaviour.
Would-be criminals have been dealt a blow after councillors and police officers introduced the camera at the junction of Deardengate and Blackburn Road this week.
Coun Peter Steen, chairman of the Rossendale Community Safety Partnership, said: “We are really pleased to have been able to support this project.
“CCTV is an important tool in providing evidence, but plays a much more important role of reducing crime and the fear of crime.”
The cost of installing the camera has been paid for by the Community Safety Partnership.
Trish Ellins, community safety manager, said: “We are sure that the camera will play a big part in providing reassurance to residents and contributing to a safe and secure environment in Haslingden.”
