SOME of East Lancashire’s leading businesses were honoured at an awards evening at Ewood Park.

Blackburn-based interactive white board manufacturer Promethean, Oswaldtwistle Mills, Holland’s Pies and Accrington-based Kitchener 2000 collected first prizes at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Awards.

Promethean, which employs 250 in East Lancashire and has 12 offices worldwide, picked up the international trade award.

Oswaldtwistle Mills was named large company of the year after a 50 per cent profits surge and taking over Accrington’s former Woolworths unit.

Kitchener 2000 was honoured for its commitment to training and Hollands Pies won a special award for its contribution to the area.

Chamber president John Getty said: “These achievements mark an exceptional year of business in Pennine Lancashire and their talents, efforts and successes need to be both championed and honoured.”
