A ROSSENDALE landlord could have his licence revoked less than six months into his lease.

Residents living around New Hall Hey social club in Bury Road, Rawtenstall, have reported “chaos” outside David Nickson’s premises.

Neighbours in Lomas Lane and Bury Road have complained of fights outside the club in the early hours of the morning, loud abusive language from inside the club at 2am and taxis sounding their horns at 1.45am on weekends to pick up drinkers.

David Robinson, 28, who lives in Bury Road near the club, said: “We have a young child and the noise is so loud from the social club that it’s keeping our child up.

“My wife called them to ask if they could turn down the music, but the landlord could not hear her on the phone because of the noise in his club.

“It’s not just the general thud you get from a normal bar either, you can hear every single word.

“Something should be done.”

Rossendale Borough Council’s NEAT team, which tackles environmental and anti-social behaviour across the borough, has also been called to the club after closing time.

An environmental health officer who reviewed the premises recently said: “The performance of live music and the playing of recorded music on Friday and Saturday nights is seriously detrimental to the residential amenities of nearby occupiers by reason of the noise and disturbance and general activity associated with the social club.”

The members of the licensing committee will consider five options for Mr Nickson’s lease including modifying the licence, removing the designated prem-ises supervisor, suspending the licence for three months or revoking the licence.

Mr Nickson was unavailable for comment.
