GALLERY: Graduates honoured at Blackburn College prize ceremony

Dressed in caps and gowns, this year’s graduates were rewarded at a ceremony in King George’s Hall last night.

They were presented with certificates by college principal Ian Clinton, and guest and this year’s College Fellow Halima Cassell.

This year’s Lancashire Telegraph Award for Excellence, given to the student who produces the best dissertation, was awarded to Shirley McCarthy.

Mr Clinton said: “The Higher Education Awards ceremony is a major event in the college’s calendar.

"It gives myself and all college staff enormous pleasure to see the success of our students recognised in the presentation of degrees and diplomas.

"We congratulate them on their achievements and wish each and every one of them a happy and successful future.”
