THIRTY-two more crimes were committed in Nelson last month than in the same period last year.
Inspector Paul Leigh, of Nelson Police, told Nelson Committee the increase represented a rise of 10 per cent.
He said there were 252 crimes committed last month, compared to 230 a year ago.
Despite there being a reduction in burglaries from 14 last year to just six this year, vehicle crime, violent crime and criminal damage had all risen.
In Cloverhill and Walverden incidents of criminal damage rose from nine in 2008 to 21 this year.
And there were 25 reports of violent crime in Bradley alone last month.
