THE Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards can provide a massive boost to an organisation, according a previous winner.

Aerospace manufacturer Aircelle was named business of the year at last year’s ceremony after impressing judges by creating 250 jobs at a time of economic uncertainty.

And 12 months on the Burnley-based firm is still reaping the benefits of scooping the top accolade.

Helen Gopsill, Aircelle’s human resources director who co-ordinated last year’s successful bid, said it had been fantastic to be recognised by others in the business community.

She said: “It is great to receive the external recognition. While we know we are running a great business, it is good that it was recognised by others in this way.

“It really did build the sense of pride the employers have for working for the company.

“Winning an award is also a point of difference and you are able to use that so you stand out from other businesses.”

Aircelle is the largest private sector employer in Burnley with 800 members of staff, who were treated to free lunches to mark last year’s success.

Winning the award helped to boost its profile and led to the company becoming involved in more community functions in Burnley, Helen said.
