LOVING tributes have been paid to a Chorley man described as a ‘wonderful character’ who died in a motorcycle crash.

Daniel Pammen, 27, lived in Clayton-le-Woods with long-term partner Laura Hiles.

His Suzuki bike collided with a Range Rover in Blackburn Road, close to its junction with Merton Grove at 2pm on Saturday.

More than 50 floral tributes have been left at the site along with a Manchester United shirt signed by several friends and family.

Daniel’s parents, Terry and Elizabeth described him as a truly special son who had a huge personality and lived life to the full.

They said: “Daniel was a beloved son, best friend and brother to Natalie and a devoted partner to Laura.

“He loved riding his motorcycle and had recently visited Scotland. He was someone who enjoyed being round his family and friends.

“Daniel had enjoyed motorcycles since he was seven when he started riding a small bike on his grandparents’ farm.

“Since then he has been a keen motorcyclist as well as a keen Manchester United fan.

“All the family and Daniel’s friends are deeply saddened by his tragic death.”

Daniel was educated at St John’s Primary School, Whittle-le-Woods, and St Michael’s High School, Chorley.

He met Laura in 2000 and two years ago they purchased their first home together in Clayton-le-Woods.

On Sunday, dozens of friends and family gathered to share their grief and remember Daniel.

Blackburn Road was closed for almost four hours after the smash.

The female driver of the Range Rover sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Sgt Alan Barron, of Chorley traffic police, is leading the investigation and is appealing for anyone who saw the incident or events leading up to it to contact police.
